Peplink Router Login: Access Your Admin Panel

Peplink, which also makes the Pepwave line, builds business-grade routers known for combining multiple internet connections for reliability. The login address depends on the model: Pepwave and Surf SOHO units use 192.168.50.1, while Balance series routers use 192.168.1.1. The default username is admin, and the password is either admin or a unique code on the device label. This guide covers the login, the cloud recovery option, and how to reset if you are locked out.

How to Log In to a Peplink Router

1. Connect your computer to the router, over Wi-Fi or with an Ethernet cable into a LAN port.

2. Open a web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

3. In the address bar, type your model’s address and press Enter:

   • Pepwave and Surf SOHO: 192.168.50.1
   • Balance series: 192.168.1.1

   Confirm the correct address on the sticker on the bottom of the router.

4. If a certificate or security warning appears, proceed past it. This is normal for a local device, covered below.

5. Enter the username and password. See the next section.

The username is admin. On many Peplink devices the default password is also admin, but newer units ship with a unique AP password printed on a sticker on the bottom of the device. If the admin is rejected, use that label password.

The credentials are case-sensitive, and Peplink specifically warns to watch for a zero versus the letter O, since the label password often contains a zero. Enter it exactly as printed.

The Certificate Warning Is Normal

When you open the Peplink address, your browser may show a certificate error or security alert. This is expected, because the router uses a secure connection with a self-signed certificate that your browser does not recognize. There is no security risk, since you are connecting to your own local device. Click Advanced or Details, then choose to proceed to the page.

How to Change Your Peplink Wi-Fi Name and Password

Changing the Wi-Fi settings is a common reason to log in.

1. Log in to the Web Admin at your router’s address.
2. Go to AP, then Wireless SSID, and select the SSID you want to edit.
3. Enter your new network name in the SSID field.
4. Set the Security Policy to WPA2/WPA3 Personal.
5. Enter your new password in the Shared Key field.
6. Click Save, then apply the changes.

How to Recover a Forgotten Password

Peplink has a useful cloud option that many routers lack. If your device is registered with Peplink’s InControl2 cloud management, you can reset the local admin password without a factory reset.

Log in to your InControl2 account online, open your device’s dashboard, go to the Admin Security page, and reset the local password there. This uses your secure cloud credentials to restore local access without wiping your configuration. Once done, you log in locally again at 192.168.50.1 or 192.168.1.1 with the new password.

How to Reset a Peplink Router

A factory reset restores the default settings, including the login, and erases your configuration. Use it only when you cannot recover access any other way.

1. With the router powered on, find the recessed Reset button on the back or bottom, marked with a circular arrow icon.
2. Use a pin or paperclip to press and hold it for about 15 to 20 seconds.
3. Release and wait for the router to restart.
4. Log in with the default credentials, admin and admin, or the AP password on the label.
